Berlin, November 12, 2024 – The payment company Unzer has appointed three highly experienced industry experts to its Advisory Board: Marcus Chromik, Jon Wrennall, and Jürg Weber. Each brings unique expertise in finance, technology, payments and risk management, reinforcing Unzer’s dedication to driving innovation and providing robust solutions for clients across Europe. Martin Blessing, former CEO of Commerzbank, will continue as Chairman of the Board, guiding Unzer through its next stages of growth as the company helps European retailers accelerate their digital transformation.
Marcus Chromik joins with a distinguished career in financial risk management. Currently a Non-Executive Director at UniCredit, Chromik previously served as Chief Risk Officer at Commerzbank for eight years. Holding a PhD in nuclear physics, he brings a data-driven and analytical approach to risk management, compliance, and governance—enhancing Unzer’s commitment to best-in-class standards in these areas.
Jon Wrennall, with over 30 years of experience in the technology sector, joins Unzer as a seasoned IT executive. Currently a Non-Executive Director at team.blue, his previous roles include CTO of Corsearch, the first CTO at Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, and Group CTO of OneAdvanced, where he led a team of 750 to deliver over 100 products. His strategic insight into digital innovation will be key as Unzer continues to expand its technology offerings and support businesses in their digital journeys.
Jürg Weber, former CEO Payment Services of SIX Group, completes the Advisory Board. With extensive experience leading financial services companies in consumer banking, credit cards, and payment services across Switzerland, the USA, and emerging markets, Weber brings valuable insights into operational excellence and international market dynamics, supporting Unzer’s mission to be a trusted partner for businesses throughout Europe.
Martin Blessing, a seasoned leader in financial services with international experience, will continue to serve as Chairman of the Advisory Board. Blessing’s distinguished career includes roles such as CEO of Commerzbank and Co-President of UBS Global Wealth Management.
